Gretchen organized one of the outdoor activities for Harvest Festival at school. The kids had to navigate a short obstacle course, ending with the rolling of pumpkins. Brita did a great job and rolled hard.
I travel in the life of plenty, but sometimes it feels lonely. It can feel great and lonely at the same time. I just wish I could go home tonight.
We took a trip out to the Minnetonka Orchards today. We picked apples for the first time in years, walked the corn maze, ate some apple donuts and bought a pie. We listened to live music while the kids climbed on the toy train and wrestled on the hay pile. The day was beautiful and it was great to spend some time with the kids.
Lars has been on a roll lately, scoring a goals and moving the ball down the field. Yesterday he had one goal. It’s nice to see a good game of football on a crisp autumn day.
Leif, Lars and I went to Lars’ soccer game in the morning, while Brita and Gretchen went to an end-of-year soccer party for Brita’s team. While Lars was practicing, we headed to the creek for some dad and Leif time.
The leaves have started falling and had formed a dam at a grate. Leif and I took turns being little boys, poking the leaves with sticks and seeing if we could get the water to flow faster. We had mixed success, but it was fun to watch the leaves floating down the stream.
After that, we walked together up the path towards Lake Harriet. The weather was warm and it was great to have some alone time together.
Showed a coworker Cloudgate last night. Sadly, the park restaurant was closed by the time we arrived.
You can’t argue with joy. That’s the feeling that Leif (and associates) have had during this round of flag football classes. Leif is right in there, aggressively grabbing flags or avoiding the hands of others. It’s fun for me to play a small part in the day, even more fun to watch Leif have great fun.
