When we got home from church on Sunday the Aquatennial was in full swing down at Lake Calhoun. The festival was huge this year - which meant people were parking up and down every street everywhere around the lake.

The Aquatennial is a celebration of Minnesota’s lakes and has a 90+ year tradition. One of the biggest events is the milk carton races, where people compete on boats made of milk cartons. One of the most elaborate floats was ‘Up, up and away’, which was modeled after the Pixar movie.

The day was perfect and the kids munched on corndogs and fries (and some cheese curds) while the boats went by. We took a look at the sand sculptures and then headed home for the afternoon.
