Conferences
Last night Gretchen and I attended this year’s initial conferences for Lars and Brita. We all walked over to school together as a family. The school had care provided during conferences and Gretchen had scheduled them together.
I am happy to report that the news from the teachers was excellent. Lars’ teacher called him a math whiz and said that he is a friend to everyone in class. Brita’s teacher called this class the most well-behaved she has had in 23 years of teaching. She said that Brita was an excellent reader and worked very hard in class.
The experience brought back memories for me of attending grade-school conferences with my parents. At the time, there was a lot going on in my life and while I don’t think the reports were bad, I was definitely focusing on issues outside of school.
Our experience with Lars’ and Brita’s school has been great. The teachers have been wonderful, the other parents share Gretchen and my values, and Gretchen has done a great job preparing the kids for school. We left school a happy family and I felt happier than I have in a long time.
