Around the lake (twice)

Last night was an amazing night for me.  I asked Brita to ride her bike around Lake Calhoun, which is about 3 miles.  Her previous longest ride was in a neighborhood church parking lot where she ended the ride by falling.

It was an amazing ride. Brita made it all the way around the lake without falling.  Along the way, she went over bumps and learned to control the bicycle as I had never seen her do before.  The ride was a huge confidence booster.

Leif was down for a nap before we left.  He had said that he wanted to go for a bike ride as well.  So when we got back, I asked him if he wanted to go.  The surprising thing was that Brita wanted to go as well.

So, I decided to try another first by putting Leif on our Afterburner trailer bike.  After a test run around the block, off we went for another 3 mile ride around Calhoun.  Leif loved the ride and was cheering the whole way.  Brita was so proud that she was able to ride another three miles.  And I was happy that all of us can now go biking together.  I can’t wait for next summer.
