This picture was taken at the Mansion House intersection.  6 major streets and some alleys and by-ways all intersect at this one corner.  One can see my point that getting lost is easy.
My brother-in-law made an off-hand comment to me before I left.  He told me to take a map and said, “Don’t worry, everyone does it.”  I didn’t realize until later (and he also told me explicitly) that even Londoners carry a map (London, A-Z.)  It’s true.   And sometimes that doesn’t even help.
I have learned to navigate the streets by knowing where the river is.  I’ve never seen the water of the Thames, but I always know generally if it is too my left or right and how far away it is.
That last statement should make you realize just how little of London I have actually seen.
