The plan was to get up this morning, take it slow, then go over to my friend Doug’s house at 10:00am and do my laundry. At 10 o’clock, I got a call from Doug saying he would be a little late. A few minutes later, he shows up in this jacket and pretty hung over from a Halloween party he had attended the night before.
The jacket, it turns out, has a story. Doug gave up a kidney for a friend who needed it several years ago when he lived in San Francisco. The recovery period ended right around Halloween. To celebrate his recovery - and gift - his friends took him out for Halloween and presented him with the coat.
But I digress from the story. Doug had forgotten his keys in his apartment. So the new plan was for us to walk the city for a while until he could get in touch with his landlord so we could get into the apartment. So I grabbed my giant bag of dirty laundry and off we went - Doug with his crazy coat and me with my bag of laundry.
