Today I spent the entire day, with the exception of a 1/2-hour for the kickoff meeting, in my office holding meetings or responding to emails.  I didn’t get a bathroom break, although I was able to get an apple and some coffee from the kitchen.  8:15am to 5:45pm - no breaks.

So as I was leaving, I stopped in the bathroom and saw this sign.  On the one hand, I am representing a British company, so I can understand why it is in English.  Everyone seems to speak English (even if it isn’t preferred).

On the other hand, I can’t help but wonder at the lack of translation to other languages.  Most Swiss speak 2, 3, 4 or even 5 languages (Swiss German, German, English, French and Italian) and I rarely see or hear something just in one language.  I just have not seen another sign that is pure English.

I know the Swiss are fastidious.  Spend some time with them, and you’ll know what I am talking about.  The subject doesn’t surprise me at all.  So, that leads me to believe only one thing…English speakers leave the bathroom a mess.  And they smoke.
