Pfaffikon is a small town, population of 10,000, located about 13 miles southwest of Zurich.  Before leaving for Switzerland, I had printed maps from the train station to the hotel and then from the hotel to the office.
Even though I was looking at the wrong map last night(!) and walking in the dark through residential neighborhoods, I still managed to find the hotel because the town is so small.  Walking from the hotel to work is nice, although it is along a busier street.
Imagine my surprise when I saw this scene tonight walking back to the hotel - a traffic jam stretching as far as I could see in all directions.  What you cannot see is the empty trains that whiz by where I am standing one block to the south of this road.
It goes to show - even with excellent (but I must add, expensive) public transportation, many people the world over - not just Americans - love their cars.  Even here in Switzerland.
