Mill City Adventure
The weather was warm today and the kids were anxious to do something fun today. So we organized an ‘adventure’ which was taking the city bus downtown, walking around, visiting the Mill City Museum and then going out for lunch at our favorite Minneapolis riverside restaurant, Pracna.
We started our trip by riding the bus to the new Minneapolis Public Library. We spent some time wandering the stacks and marveling at the architecture and great new space.

We then walked down to the Mill City museum for a history lesson on Minneapolis. We saw a movie, “The History of Minneapolis in 19 Minutes” which is as entertaining as it is informational and insightful. I had no idea about the importance of flour in our city’s history.
Another part of the tour involved watching a show from a freight elevator theater, which talks about the machines and working conditions of the mill. The show ends on the 7th floor of the factory and out onto a glass-walled observation deck overlooking Minnehaha falls.
Finally, the day was so nice, we got to go outside onto an open deck and look over the river and Stone Arch Bridge.

The day ended with us walking across the river on the bridge and having some burgers at Pracna while sitting outside and enjoying the first nice weekend day of the year.
