We stopped by Leonardo’s Basement for the open house. Leonardo’s Basement is a below-ground crafts shop, a basement filled with discarded computers, bowling balls, old statues and trophies and craft-making tools such as colored tape, saws, and hot-glue guns. When we came it, the place was packed and kids were running in the crowd, ducking under the occasional saw on their way to the craft of choice.
The people running Leonardo’s Basement were unflappably patient and seemed talented at bringing out the most creativity in the stations each was running. In other words, Leonardo’s Basement seemed like the perfect place to unlock a kids inner creativity.
Here, Leif is showing his creation - a trophy made for a 4-year-old by a 3-year-old (soon to be 4).
