We took a drive down to Ocracoke Island for lunch, ponies and a walk on their beach.  When we got out at the ferry, I asked the little kids to pose for some pictures.  Sometimes, getting crazy gets good results.  I was really happy with how these all turned out.

Got some great black and white pictures at the beach in North Carolina over Christmas break.  The unseasonably warm weather made for a really fun walk to the beach.

The Read-a-thon was tonight. Leif read, Lars did homework and I played a game of chess. Then Brita and Gretchen returned home with books for everyone.

Lars was gone to a birthday party, so Gretchen, Leif, Brita and I had game night at home.  We played Fast Track, Carcassonne (on the iPad), Apples to Apples (a kid and adult favorite), and Connect Four.

Busy day yesterday - Reindeer Days at Linden Hills, chores, football and a night capped with the family decorating the Christmas tree.

Leif had outpatient surgery this week. When he came out, he looked pretty uncomfortable. But soon he was asking for a Lego movie and he perked up, before falling asleep at home.

I was reading my iPhone on the couch when I heard a friendly voice say, “Hey dad!” When I looked up, I saw this creature creeping towards me. It’s the eyes that really got me.

We headed out to the annual Halloween party at our local high school. There were games, a great magic show, and hot dogs. Lars went as a ninja, Brita as Hermione, and Leif went as Yoda.

Our family was lucky enough to know someone who made a Yoda costume be hand. Leif wore it with pride and waved softly to all the people who whispered, “Hey, it’s Yoda.”

We took a trip out to the Minnetonka Orchards today.  We picked apples for the first time in years, walked the corn maze, ate some apple donuts and bought a pie.  We listened to live music while the kids climbed on the toy train and wrestled on the hay pile.  The day was beautiful and it was great to spend some time with the kids.
